Dr. Stepanyan is an economics expert with consulting experience in valuation, finance, and the application of econometric and machine learning methods to litigation and regulatory matters.

His work spans tax and transfer pricing controversies, bankruptcy and restructuring, international arbitration, and forensic economics. Dr. Stepanyan also assists clients with applying causal data science techniques to develop data-driven business strategies and performance improvement solutions. He has extensive experience in commercial disputes, and clients have retained him to develop practical approaches used to inform case theory and expert analyses in various stages of regulatory proceedings and litigation.

In addition to regulatory matters, Dr. Stepanyan has advised clients – ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies – on value chain design, valuation of intangible assets and financial instruments, advance pricing agreement negotiations, M&A due diligence, and turnaround of digital platform economies.

Prior to joining Brattle, Dr. Stepanyan was a Principal at an economic and strategy consultancy. He has taught economics at Rice University, is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and is certified in Distressed Business Valuation (CDBV).
