Brattle principal Peter Fox-Penner is touring China later this June to celebrate the recent release of the Chinese language version of his book, Smart Power: Climate Change, the Smart Grid, and the Future of Electric Utilities. The book was published by The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), a government controlled grid operator in China and the largest utility in the world. On June 25, 2012, Dr. Fox-Penner visited their headquarters in Beijing and gave a lecture on the book for The State Grid Energy Research Institute, the SGCC subsidiary responsible for the translation of the book. While in China, Dr. Fox-Penner will also visit China’s State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Huaneng Power International, and the Beijing Energy Network.
Smart Power provides an introduction to the infrastructure, regulatory structure, and business strategy of U.S. electric utilities, with an emphasis on the future of the industry. Since its release in 2010, Smart Power has received international attention from utilities and regulators across the globe.
