Torben Voetmann to Discuss Halliburton II and Fraud-on-the-Market Theory at The Knowledge Group’s Webinar

Brattle Principal Torben Voetmann will present during The Knowledge Group’s webinar, “Halliburton II and Fraud-on-the-Market Theory: New Legal Challenges and Strategies Impacting Class Certification,” taking place February 8, 2017 from 12:00-2:00pm EST.

The webinar’s topic stems from the decision in IBEW Local 98 Pension Fund, et al. v. Best Buy Co., Inc., which strengthened the possibility that a defendant’s liability can be narrowed or extinguished based on price impact evidence during the class certification phase.

Dr. Voetmann’s panel will discuss this topic within the context of Best Buy and other recent cases challenging class certification under Halliburton II. In addition, panelists will discuss price impact litigation across the country, emerging strategies for rebutting the presumption of reliance, and implications on class certification in securities fraud class actions.
