Peter Fox-Penner to Participate in Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis Regional Clean Energy Leadership Forum

Brattle principal Peter Fox-Penner has been selected to participate on a panel for the upcoming Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis (JISEA) conference, “Synergies of Natural Gas and Renewable Energy: 360 Degrees of Opportunity.” The event will take place on July 25, 2014 in Washington, DC.

The Forum provides an opportunity to discuss the wide range of social, economic, technical, and political factors that are driving the future of energy. The recent North American shale energy revolution combined with global advances in renewable energy has altered the investment and energy policy landscapes, providing the backdrop for this discussion on the growing potential to utilize these technologies in a complementary fashion when they have traditionally competed for market share.

Dr. Fox-Penner will participate in the session on “The Energy Service Provider of the Future: Issues and Opportunities for Gas and Renewables.” Discussion topics will include how energy service providers can position themselves for the current and future changes resulting from increasing shares of natural gas and renewable energy; what the market design, operational, and related investment options are that allow utilities, merchant generators, energy service companies, and others to earn sufficient ROI’s when wholesale markets have become increasingly dominated by natural gas, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and demand response; and the role policy and regulation will play in enabling and enhancing this future.
