Brattle Senior Associate Michael Kline will present at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Summer Policy Summit, taking place July 17-19, 2017 in San Diego, CA.
The event is a series of meetings that provide in-depth analysis of policy issues that are relevant to state utility regulatory, as well as stakeholder groups and federal regulators.
Mr. Kline will present during the panel discussion “Electric Gas Coordination – “What the RUC?” Panelists will discuss how the industry addresses reliability and the current role and future evolution of ancillary services. In addition, they will aim to address questions such as:
- How do regions ensure generating capacity will be available when there is no access to gas or oil because of environmental or physical restrictions?
- How do regions plan for periods of low renewable generation?
- Do regions coordinate during the challenging (high demand) periods throughout the year and if so, how?
- Is there enough capacity – both natural gas for generation and electric transmission – to meet demand?
