Judy Chang to Present on Evolution of Alberta’s Market Design at IPPSA Conference

Brattle Principal Judy Chang will present at the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta’s (IPPSA) 23rd Annual Conference, taking place March 12-14, 2017 in Alberta, Canada.

This year’s event will bring together investors, consumers, and policymakers to address the transitions occurring within Alberta’s power market. These transitions include a historically thermal market incorporating significant renewable supply, and the open market design incorporating central planning targets on coal retirements and renewables additions.

Ms. Chang will present during the panel, “Evolution of Alberta’s Market Design,” which will discuss what the future design of Alberta’s industry could and should look like. Panelists will also discuss key lessons Alberta needs to consider, the trade-offs for this design as it impacts to new entrants, incumbents, thermal and renewable sources, and what it means for customers and power prices and power costs.

The Brattle Group is a sponsor of this event. To learn more about the event, or to register, please visit the event website.
