Brattle principal Peter Fox-Penner will serve as chair during a panel session on regulatory issues at The Aspen Institute’s 2012 Energy Policy Forum, taking place July 3-7, 2012 in Aspen, CO.
The 2012 Forum, “Electricity: Seeking Progress and Uncertainty,” will explore regulatory issues affecting the financial model of utilities, the obstacles facing the move toward greater energy efficiency, the challenge of meeting energy and water needs simultaneously, factors affecting utility choices between coal and gas, and the challenges of financing new development. The Forum will be chaired by Ernest J. Moniz, Professor of Physics and Engineering Systems, Director of the Energy Initiative, and Director of the Laboratory for Energy and the Environment at MIT.
Dr. Fox-Penner will chair a panel session on regulatory issues, which will discuss how the financial model of regulated utilities is under stress due to low sales, distributed generation, political pressure facing rates, and other factors. Speakers from different institutions will share their unique perspectives on the topic.
