Brattle principal Peter Fox-Penner has been invited to participate in a panel discussion on “Transmission Successes: Preparing the grid for low carbon power,” taking place October 11, 2011 in Washington, DC. Co-hosted by World Resources Institute and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the panel will explore U.S. and German efforts to adapt the grid to the rapidly changing energy landscape.
The panel discussion will feature Mr. Matthias Kurth, President of the German Federal Grid Agency. Mr. Kurth will discuss how the German grid has adapted to recent changes in the energy industry, and the strategies that have ensured that transmission infrastructure and practices adapt to meet these new changes.
Speaking alongside Mr. Kurth, Dr. Fox-Penner will discuss both the challenges and successes of the U.S. transmission landscape, and how they compare and contrast to the issues presently facing the German grid.
