Biography
John J. McConnell is the Burton D. Morgan Distinguished Chair of Private Enterprise (in Finance) at the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. He specializes in various aspects of financial markets and securities including stock and bond prices, corporate valuation, mergers and acquisitions, derivatives, mortgage backed securities (MBSs), collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs), sub-prime lending, money management practices, and bank lending and investment practices.

Professor McConnell has consulted on these and related matters to investment banks (including Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs), government agencies (including the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Justice, the Office of Thrift Supervision, and the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight), and over 50 law firms throughout the United States. He has testified on numerous occasions in federal and state courts, and NASD arbitrations.

He has published more than 100 articles in leading peer-reviewed finance, economics, and management journals and edited books on such topics as stock and bond valuation and returns, portfolio management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, derivative securities, asset leasing, and related topics. He has been recognized for his scholarly achievements as the Distinguished Scholar of the Eastern Finance Association (2002) and as a Fellow of the Financial Management Association (2008).

Professor McConnell has served on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Finance, Financial Management, the AREUEA Journal, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, the Financial Review, and the Pacific Basin Finance Journal. He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Fixed Income, and the Real Estate Review.

In addition to his extensive academic background, Professor McConnell has served as a member of the Boards of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, Harrington Financial Group, Inc., Harrington Bank FSB, Harrington West Financial Group, Inc., Los Padres Bank FSB, the American Finance Association, and the Western Finance Association. He currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Finance Academy of the University College Dublin.
